Just like that, the Dwight Howard era came to an end in Atlanta and the rebuild began. In exchange for the one bad contract, the Hawks took on another with the overpaid Miles Plumlee.
Plumlee’s first season as a Hawk was not a good start for the big man who is set to make $12 million a year until the end of the 2019-20 season (ugh).
The trade was necessary for a Hawks team that was starting to rebuild. They did not want to dish out big bucks to Dwight in the future and Plumlee makes quite a bit less than Dwight was set to make. One thing is for certain, Plumlee is not the answer for the team at the center position.
