2018 NBA Draft: 7 Players the Hawks Could Select at 19th Overall
By Chris Guest
Troy Brown
A versatile prospect, Troy Brown out of Oregon could fill a variety of roles with the Hawks if he were still available with the 19th selection.
With good size, excellent athleticism and a great wingspan, Brown could prove to be a secondary ballhandler in the Hawks’ future – especially if Kent Bazemore were to leave via a trade to a playoff contender.
A terrific defender, Brown has the instincts and athleticism to be supremely switchable for the Hawks across at least three positions, though he doesn’t have the size or strength to switch onto larger players.
A multifaceted offensive player, Brown did not impress with his shooting stroke during his lone college season, shooting only 44% from the floor. His shooting mechanics are sound though, which means that some solid coaching could aid Brown in his quest to find a role on the offensive end.
Though most of Brown’s possessions came via spot-up shooting opportunities, he was also Oregon’s backup pick-and-roll ballhandler, which, again, should allow for a secondary skill set opportunity for the Hawks to develop if he were to drop to 19.
