4 Veteran Free Agents Hawks Could Sign this Offseason
By Chris Guest
A nine-year veteran out of Villanova University, Dante Cunningham spent last season as a reserve for both the New Orleans Pelicans and the Brooklyn Nets, after he was traded by the former to the latter at the trade deadline for Rashad Vaughn.
Though he hasn’t particularly popped in any one statistical category during his well-traveled career in the Association, he remains a serviceable three-point shooter (career 33.2 from deep), has good size (6’8”, 230 pounds) and can play either small or power forward – meaning his chameleonic skill set could open up minutes for the glut of young players the Hawks will trot out next season.
A solid defender in his career, Cunningham also rarely makes mistakes on both ends, either making the easy pass or nabbing timely rebounds as the need arises.
In his 9-year career, Cunningham has both a 107 offensive rating per 100 possessions as well as a 107 defensive rating per 100 possessions – perfectly encapsulating his solid play on both ends.
