With plenty of activity occurring during the opening hours and subsequent days of NBA Free Agency, the Atlanta Hawks have remained quiet.

Though they signed their three first round picks (Trae Young, Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman) to multi-year deals, the team has yet to dip their toes into the joys of free agency by engaging any of names big and small available for deals.

Perhaps they might look into putting in an offer on a big-name restricted free agency like Clint Capela, or a low-cost flyer on a cagy veteran like Dante Cunningham.

We’ve highlighted 3 free agents who are still on the Free Agency market (circa 6 p.m. EST on Independence Day) that the Hawks could take a look at with their remaining cap space – still a substantial total of $22.4 million at last check.

We’ve already focused on some of the major team needs the Hawks should look to address in Free Agency, though they are almost running out of time at this juncture.

Marcus Smart

While not the most prolific producer of counting stats, Marcus Smart is a major force on the defensive end, and he is eminently switchable across multiple positions (perhaps even 5 positions in small-ball scenarios).

Smart would also be a major “culture guy” for the Hawks locker room, which sometimes seems a bit splintered with Dennis Schröder as the team’s best player.

Smart could act as a semi-overqualified backup point guard who can make as many hustle plays as humanly possible – as well as provide extreme entertainment value with his hilarious flops.

Though a sub-30 percent shooter from distance in his career, Smart is sneakily athletic, using his plus wingspan, size and physical prowess to impose his will on defense and outwork opposing players.
