Though the NBA’s offseason is still bubbling over with rumors and news about where players might end up, the Atlanta Hawks have been quite quiet so far in making moves.

So far, the team has only signed its three first-round picks – Trae Young, Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman – to multi-year deals this offseason, but that doesn’t mean the team won’t make moves as the offseason progresses.

As we wait for those moves to come though, we decided to delve into the Atlanta Hawks depth charts at each position. Next up: Shooting Guard.

SG Depth Chart:

Kent Bazemore

Tyler Dorsey

Kevin Huerter

Though the team has made a conscious effort to get younger – increasing their upside with each and every selection in the NBA Draft, Kent Bazemore will remain as the top choice at the two guard position for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018-19 season.

Even with the rise of Tyler Dorsey down the end of the 2017-18 season as well as the selection of likely future franchise cornerstone Kevin Huerter in the 2018 NBA Draft, Bazemore remains the Hawks best option at shooting guard on day one of the 2018-19 NBA season.

Sure, in terms of player development and potential upside, both Huerter and Dorsey should get a lot more playing time this season, and there is also the distinct possibility that Bazemore is not on the roster past the trade deadline this season.

Whatever the case, Baze had perhaps his best season last year for the Hawks, serving as the heart and soul of the team, as he willed other players on with his attitude and extraordinarily clutch shooting – such as this sensational 4th-quarter performance versus the Timberwolves last year:

Baze is great, and he has had some of his best years in a Hawks uniform, but the future also looks bright at the two guard spot.

Second on the depth chart should be Tyler Dorsey, who has looked a little unhinged at times during Summer League, though he is clearly an NBA player after shooting the ball well in 2017-18.

Lower on the depth chart is Kevin Huerter, who was selected 19th overall in the 2018 NBA draft and missed Summer League due to a wrist injury and should be one of the best deadeye shooters the Hawks have had since the trade of Kyle Korver a couple seasons back.

Similar to point guard, the Hawks’ other backcourt spot is looking good in the future, with both Dorsey and Huerter likely on the roster for the foreseeable future – with Morris getting a chance this season for sure. No matter if Baze is leading the charge from the two guard spot or not, the Hawks have some solid depth at the shooting guard position.
