Instilling Leadership

As you already know, Atlanta acquired Trae Young in this year’s draft. In the early stages of Summer League Young struggled to get to the rim, knock down his shot and break down defenses.

However, toward the end of Summer League, he started to gain rhythm by distributing the ball. With Lin on the roster this season, Young will be able to learn under him. Unlike Schröd, Lin will be willing to take on any role that the team provides.

At 29 years old, the former Knick can share his experiences with the young talent on the roster. Lin may not have the same nationwide (and worldwide) clout that his Linsanity era provided, but he still knows how to play the game at a high level. He can add positivity to a locker room that is looking for direction.

Currently, the Hawks are in the second year of their rebuild and adding a veteran who has fought his way to enter and remain in the league is huge. Health may be a concern for the California native, but he is on the last year of his contract. Not to mention that he wants to prove that he still belongs in the NBA.

Lin can start, come off the bench and give the team the ability to space the floor. Adding the former Hornet provides the team with a selfless player, positivity, experience and a veteran voice. Adding Linsanity will not jeopardize the growth of Young because of his malleable style of play.

The crafty guard excels at gauging the pace of the game, when to attack, when to be passive or take over offensively.
