The Atlanta Hawks have completed their roster by signing Daniel Hamilton to a guaranteed one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Though the Hawks spent much of the early part of the offseason watching and waiting, they struck multiple big deals in a row, finishing up a flurry of moves late last week by signing second-year player Daniel Hamilton to a one-year pact.

The monetary details of the contract were not revealed (meaning it’s probably for the minimum).

Hamilton played his college ball at UConn, finishing with 11.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 4.2 APG and 1.0 SPG. After two years as a Husky, Hamilton was drafted in the second round (56th overall) by the Denver Nuggets, but was then traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on draft night.

Last season, Hamilton played only six games with OKC on a Two-Way Contract as the third-string point guard behind triple-double machine Russell Westbrook and steady backup Raymond Felton. With both of those players soaking up most of the minutes at the one on a team destined to finish 5th in the Western Conference, there was not much playing time open to Hamilton – who ended up with only total 28 minutes played in his rookie year.

In a laughably small sample, Hamilton’s efficiency, offensive and defensive rating and scoring look to be projectable and his size at either guard spot (6-foot-7, 195 pounds) could be an asset for the Hawks in a limited capacity on his deal going forward.

The Hawks’ wing rotation is looking quite strong for the 2018-19 season, as Hamilton joins Taurean Prince, Kent Bazemore, Justin Anderson and Alex Poythress as players who can all capably play the three.

Even with a fully guaranteed deal, don’t be surprised if Hamilton bounces back and forth between the the Hawks and the team’s G-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, as he works on his game and perfects his craft on both ends of the floor.
