Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young’s NBA 2K19 Rating Revealed

Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks point guard of the future, has been given his NBA 2K19 rating in advance of the game’s release.

The Atlanta Hawks, who selected Trae Young with the 5^th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft (picking up an extra first round draft pick in the process), have seemed to go all in on Young’s marketability as a Stephen Curry-esque figure.

Young has played up his “everyman” mentality with his inspirational mantra of “Another Day, Another Opportunity” on Twitter every morning since being drafted seemingly. In general, Young seems like a genuine and supremely likable individual, and he seems truly excited to be playing for the Atlanta Hawks franchise – which is remarkably refreshing after the team was not the most enjoyable team to watch last year.

Recently, Young put the NBA on notice with a “Dear NBA…” video, in which he highlights all the times he has been underrated, and how he is aiming to prove people wrong in his upcoming rookie year.

Perhaps another arrow in his quiver of being underrated could be his NBA 2K19 rating, which was recently revealed as a 77. Young was predictably incensed, though not surprised, making sure to repeat his-oft stated trademark refrain of “keep that same energy”:

Many NBA pundits were shocked when the Hawks opted to pass on generational prospect Luka Doncic in favor of Young, whose usage and production in his lone college season were unmatched, but his slight frame and seemingly flagging stats in the latter portion of the season gave many pause.

Still, the Atlanta Hawks seem fully committed to Young as a major foundational piece of the team going forward, and it is true that Young’s offensive upside is among the highest of any player in his draft class.

We shall see, but it seems that 77 rating in 2K will become obsolete fairly quickly, especially if Young can employ that sterling passing vision to lead the Hawks to some surprising victories early in the season.
