Almost two months ago, the Atlanta Hawks acquired Jeremy Lin in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. After acquiring Lin from Brooklyn it was evident that the Hawks were going to move on from Dennis Schröder.

Schröder would eventually be traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The trade solidified that Trae Young will be the point guard of the future for the Atlanta Hawks. However, if healthy, Lin will most likely win the starting point guard position due to experience.

Obviously, the main concern surrounding Lin is his ability to stay healthy. As the 2018-19 NBA regular season approaches, the Atlanta Hawks need to develop their young talent and prepare them for the future while saving money for the summer of 2019.

Trading for Lin is not a bad move considering the fact that Young needs to develop and learn from a strong veteran presence. Cleary, Lin is not an NBA veteran who has won a title, played significant playoff minutes or is on his way out the league. Yet, the 30-year-old knows how to face adversity and play against the odds.

In order for Lin to effectively contribute to the Hawks, he needs to focus on accomplishing three goals.
