The Dunc’d On Basketball Podcast hosted by Nate Duncan and Danny Leroux of The Athletic and RealGM Radio delved into the Atlanta Hawks in depth recently.

The Atlanta Hawks are shaping up to have a fascinating team in 2018-19, which is a far cry from the castoff-filled roster that was the 2017-18 team.

Though John Collins and Taurean Prince were able to provide some highlights, watching the Atlanta Hawks last season was fairly unrewarding, as many of the players who saw substantial were never in the team’s plans going forward.

With the regular season looming large (and the team’s first preseason game happening October 1), all of that has changed. The Hawks picked up multiple players this offseason – many of which will (hopefully) be on the team for years to come.

The Dunc’d On Basketball Podcast (hosted by Danny Leroux of RealGM Radio this time) recently covered the Atlanta Hawks with Peachtree Hoops Editor Brad Rowland, and the pair delved deep on multiple players on the Atlanta Hawks roster.

One major player both Rowland and Leroux were interesting in talking about was Kevin Huerter. Huerter comes in as probably the most mysterious player on the roster after missing Summer League and not being particularly hyped coming out of Maryland until late in the process.

According to Rowland on the podcast, “the shooting is the number one thing with him, and I think that’s what the Hawks drafted him for.”

Certainly the idea of a Klay Thompson-lite on the Hawks would make any Atlanta basketball fan happy, but Rowland continued:

“The Hawks also like him as a secondary creator, he’s pretty good with the ball in his hands and a pretty good passer.”

Indeed, Huerter is a scintillating prospect with a fascinating skill set and it will be fascinating to see him play alongside all the other new faces on the Hawks next season.

The team definitely picked up a lot of good shooter this offseason, so time will tell how Huerter fits in with his interesting and varied play style.
