Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young Facing Most Pressure Says Bleacher Report

The Atlanta Hawks immediately tied Trae Young to Luka Doncic for all time when they traded one for the other on draft night in order to nab a future first round pick. Is Young facing the most pressure of any player on the Hawks.

When the Atlanta Hawks traded Luka Doncic for Trae Young and a future first-round pick, they set in motion a chain reaction that might end up with the team, notably General Manager Travis Schlenk, ruing the day he traded away a potential generational superstar.

Of course, Doncic might be a bust and Young could himself become a paragon of the NBA’s future. At this point, there’s no way of knowing.

However, according to a recent piece by Dan Favale of sports website and news aggregator Bleacher Report, Trae Young is the player on the Atlanta Hawks facing the most pressure.

I mean… of course that’s true. Taking a long-term view, if Young doesn’t pan out as the offensive fulcrum he was drafted to be, the Hawks have likely sunk their future into a player that is too small and lacks any semblance of defensive upside.

However, in the short-term, there are a few players that are facing different types of pressure, such as DeAndre’ Bembry, Jeremy Lin and Dewayne Dedmon.

While Ice Trae might be facing the most organizational pressure in terms of the team’s future, Bembry might be facing the most immediate pressure from the franchise to perform. Though he was drafted in the 20s in the 2016 draft, Bembry has not established himself as an NBA-level player at any point his career.

The first preseason game was promising, but he must excel this season in order to remain with the team.

Both Lin and Dedmon are coming back from injuries and must prove that they can remain healthy and productive for this season, if they wish to remain on the team, or if the Hawks want to dangle them in trade talks.

Again, it certainly makes sense that Young is listed by BR as facing the most pressure (and by extension so does Doncic facing the most on the Mavs), but there are other players on the team facing similarly pressure-packed seasons.
