Atlanta Hawks: 5 Most Exciting Players to Watch in 2018-19
By Chris Guest
Kevin Huerter
The most notable player that made his debut during the Atlanta Hawks first preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans was Kevin Huerter – who missed all of Summer League after having offseason hand surgery.
Huerter played 20 minutes, logging 2 points, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block – a rather unassuming stat line for his first career NBA game. Though he didn’t particularly assert himself on the court in-game, he was feeling frisky enough to uncork this sweet, dunk contest-level slam in warmups before the game:

Clearly, Huerter is athletic, and his college career conveys the idea that he should be able to come in and immediately impact the Atlanta Hawks with his feathery shooting touch and underrated ballhandling and passing ability.
As Hawks fans saw with the rise of Taurean Prince and some shooting outbursts from Tyler Dorsey last season, having a knockdown three-point shooter is both exciting and necessary for modern NBA teams.
In that vein, Huerter fits that role perfectly, as does the next player on our list…
