Dunking is awesome.

I think that almost all NBA fans can agree on this, though some might argue the point more vociferously than others.

John Collins unleashed some of the most impressive slam dunks in recent Atlanta Hawks history last season, and he also had some of the best near-misses too. Just take a look at this missed slam from the Hawks’ most recent preseason game, which would’ve been mental had he landed it:

JC flashed some improved perimeter skills during Summer League (where he dominated), but the reason that Atlanta Hawks fans should be most excited for him next season is because he will be receiving the ball from capable and willing passers like Jeremy Lin and the aforementioned Trae Young.

Collins is an incredible athlete with amazing leaping ability that allows him to maneuver his way around less-bouncy and slower players, and with one year of seasoning in the league, JC should know a few more of the “dark arts” of NBA big men.

John the Baptist lived up to his nickname last year with an impressive number of stunning feats of slam dunk artistry, and Atlanta Hawks fans should be extremely pumped to watch him dunk on the helpless in his second year with the team — and his first as the newly minted most exciting player to watch in 2018-19.
