#100: John Collins
Now we get into the actual rankings. After a fairly spectacular rookie season that was littered with some astonishing dunks as well as even more impressive near-misses, John Collins was given the title of 100th best player in the NBA by Bleacher Report.
While it’s certainly nice to see JC on the list at all, his company in the 96-100 range (Isaiah Thomas, Dennis Smith Jr., Patrick Beverley and JJ Redick) does not particularly inspire confidence.
I would argue that JC is better than DSJ and Isaiah Thomas, though it’s clear that JC doesn’t have a skill as strong as Redick’s jumper or the tenacious, wild effort and energy that PatBev provides.
Still though, it’s odd to see DSJ ahead of Collins, as JC had a stupendous season for the Hawks last year and DSJ experienced significant growing pains in his first season, something that JC was able to dismiss from his game, more or less.
Though Collins will be injured to start the season (sadly), Atlanta Hawks fans are expected a lot from JC in his second season in the league. We’re right there with them, and we think by the end of the season, he will have skyrocketed up this list – and many others.
