Last but certainly not least, we come to the decision the franchise has made about starting Trae Young at point guard ahead of Jeremy Lin.

We’ve long thought that Jeremy Lin will be the likely starter for the Atlanta Hawks, but as he slowly returns from a ruptured patellar tendon, it’s clear that the Hawks’ focus on Trae Young as the future superstar for the Hawks will start from opening night.

To his credit, Young seems like a genuinely good person and his youthful exuberance is extremely enjoyable to watch. He also seems amped to play specifically for the Hawks, which makes a nice change from the big-market teams clinging on to their clout from decades of dominance in the NBA.

Young will get the chance to learn on the fly, which will be important, and he has also already flashed some superstar potential in the preseason versus the Spurs.

As soon as the Atlanta Hawks traded Luka Doncic for Trae Young, it should’ve been clear who the team’s starting point guard would be.

Now that it has finally come to fruition, all the noise can die down and Atlanta Hawks fans will be able to watch their team on the court again for a glorious 7 months.

Hawks fans, it’s what we’ve been waiting for all offseason. The Atlanta Hawks are back in action with a new coach, two new point guards and three new rookies.

The stadium is revamped, and one can feel the winds of change gently washing over the team as the rebuild continues into the next few seasons.
