At long last, the Atlanta Hawks regular season started last night against the New York Knicks.

In the team’s first game of the regular season, the Atlanta Hawks got spanked by the New York Knicks 126-107.

While it was nice to actually see the team play after months of prognostication and excitement, the final product that was on the court was typified by first-game jitters, overexcited passes and meandering drives and an overall lack of poise.

Still though, there was a lot to pay attention to and we’ve outlined some of the key takeaways from the team’s first regular season game since April 10, 2018.

In terms of the actual game, Taurean Prince unsurprisingly led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points on 7 of 15 shooting with 6 rebounds, 6 assists and a glaring 6 turnovers. Former Hawk Tim Hardaway Jr. led all scorers with 31 points, and Knicks rookie Allonzo Trier actually outscored fellow rookie Trae Young while also smashing this hammer dunk in the first half:
