A few rapid-fire final takeaways for what was an eventful and entertaining Atlanta Hawks basketball game:

  • Fairly quiet night for Taurean Prince, who scored 14 on 5-16 shooting.
  • Kevin Huerter looked much more comfortable and aggressive in his third game of NBA action. He also finished with 10 rebounds.
  • For the second straight game, Alex Len posted the team’s best plus/minus (tied with Young) with a +19. He had a great game overall, blocking 4 shots to go along with his 16 points.
  • Miles Plumlee and Tyler Dorsey got DNPs in the box score today, with Lloyd Pierce opting for a 10-man rotation (Jaylen Adams played one minute). Plumlee’s no-show might be due to Len’s great day and Spellman handling the 5 duties just fine.
  • Jeremy Lin clocked just 10 minutes and went 0-4 from the field. He doesn’t seem to be a big part of the rotation at this point.

Well, that was a refreshing 2 and a half hours after two ugly road losses to start the season.

The Atlanta Hawks next play on Wednesday, as they look to break in their remodeled stadium for their home opener. They’ll play Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
