The Three-Point Shot
Speaking of that shot, Trae Young has already produced two sterling moments in his NBA career with his three-point jumper. One in the preseason against the Spurs with a 33-foot game-winner and now this magical performance against the Cavs.
When Young’s long-distance threes are falling, he seems to be an unguardable force of nature, transcending basketball and morphing into a whirling dervish of kinetic energy who is able to completely dominate the game in ways no Hawks point guard has done in many, many years.

Of course, much of the hype surrounding Young’s game was based on that shot. His scoring explosions in college, which were mostly due to him being the only option on an Oklahoma team that was pretty bad, were unlikely to continue in the NBA due to a higher level of defense and higher-quality athletes.
Hold that thought. Young proved that his shot is for real, and his hard work and dedication to his craft will pay off in the long run. Though taking 14 shots from three is a rather heady total, he hit 6 of them, which is good enough for 42.5 percent (actually better than what Stephen Curry shot on the same night, 6 of 16). Just sayin’.
