Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young, Kevin Huerter & Omari Spellman Torched Cavs

Kevin Huerter
Perhaps the most notable performance of the night (from someone other than Ice Trae) came from the 19th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Kevin Huerter.
Huerter has upped his minute totals in each of the past three games, but he had his best showing on Sunday night against the Cavs.
Huerter finished with a Kent Bazemore-esque do-everything stat line of 9 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 25 minutes. After missing all of Summer League and playing very little in the preseason, it was nice to see Huerter impact the game in a major way on Sunday.
Even more impressive was the way Huerter played. He was employing his underrated athleticism to sky for rebounds over players, and was also opting for a lot of grab-and-go possessions off those rebounds – using his solid speed and tight handle to cruise past uninterested Cavs defenders.
Beyond that, Huerter’s three-point stroke – which will likely be his bread-and-butter in the NBA – was looking very, very nice after a 3 of 5 showing from deep against the Cavs.
Now on to the headlining performance of the night.
