Conclusion

With at least one more season of rebuilding in the cards, the Atlanta Hawks must make sure to stay positive and enjoy the incremental growth that these young Hawks will display throughout the season.

Sure, a stirring victory over the Cavs is reason enough for excitement and celebration, but it’s just one game, and Trae Young might shoot 1 of 9 from three in his next game.

These players are very young, and it’s hard to immediately jump headfirst into the league and dominate, even though a 35-point, 11-assist outing where you carve up an opposing defense is a solid start.

All three of Young, Huerter and Spellman showed tremendous growth in their third career game, so let’s hope they build on that impressive outing against perhaps the most highly touted rookie of this year, who was picked as the runaway favorite by fellow rookies and general managers around the league to win Rookie of the Year: Luka Doncic.

Doncic and the Mavs head to State Farm Arena for the Atlanta Hawks home opener on Wednesday, which is sure to be a rousing affair. We shall see which rookie rises to the occasion, but it’s going to be a fun night regardless. Let’s go Hawks!
