Atlanta Hawks: 4 Takeaways from a Dull Defeat vs. Bulls

Dewayne Dedmon Returns with a Vengeance
The only positive takeaway from this rather uninspiring battle between bottom-five Eastern Conference teams was the play of Dewayne Dedmon after returning from injury in the team’s home opener.
Dedmon was a force to be reckoned with in his second game this season, and he finished with an impactful double-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks as well as a +18 box plus/minus in a game the Hawks lost by 8.
Dedmon always brings the energy game-in and game-out, as he is a good communicator on defense and his lanky, bulky presence on that end makes him an effective rim protector as well – as evidenced by his 5 blocks against the Bulls.
DD was on the only player on the Hawks that seemed to put forth any real effort on either end, as he was flying around on both ends to nab rebounds, affect shots and get involved in plays. Great stuff from the seven-footer.
The Atlanta Hawks play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m. EST.
