The Atlanta Hawks fell to 2-5 on the season after a 114-136 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won their first game of the season tonight. Ironically, last Sunday the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cavs 133-111.

Tonight’s effort by the Hawks was similar to yesterday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Atlanta Hawks got off to a quick start, but the second half provided a different narrative. Atlanta has gotten off to solid starts this season but continues to struggle in the second half of games.

Despite another loss, it’s important to remember that this team is in the middle of a rebuild and is filled with untapped potential, but it is going to take a while before we see things come together.

Also, don’t forget that the team is still without John Collins who provides athleticism, versatility and energy. On the bright side, both Trae Young and Alex Len each scored more than 20 points tonight.

After tonight’s loss to the Cavaliers, there are three major takeaways for the Atlanta Hawks.
