Turnovers Continue to Pile Up

Against the Cavs tonight the Hawks turned the ball over 22 times which can’t happen if they want to start winning on the road. Often times tonight and throughout the season the team tends to get careless with the basketball.

Young and Kent Bazemore combined for eight turnovers tonight against the Cavaliers. In order to win the backcourt especially has to take care of the ball and run the offense. Last night against the Sixers the Hawks finished with 13 turnovers which is much better than 22.

Until the Hawks start to commit fewer turnovers the team will continue to struggle finding a rhythm. Turning the ball over has taken away shot opportunities for this young team and has provided opposing teams fast break opportunities.

Taurean Prince, who has been pretty solid this season finished the game with four turnovers. As an up-and-coming two-way player it’s important that he takes care of the ball. Often times Prince handles the ball on fast breaks and even brings the ball up to run the offense. Turnovers have to decline on all ends for the Hawks in order for them to have a chance at the end of games.
