Atlanta Hawks: 5 Takeaways from 123-118 Victory vs. Heat
By Dallin Duffy
Solid Performance from Centers
Both Dewayne Dedmon and Alex Len have been sneakily good for the Hawks to start the year, but they’ve been hot and cold. Tonight, they both brought it, and combined for 26 points.
Len got the start and quickly showed his newfound prowess from deep, drilling a 3 for the first bucket of the game. he finished with 11 points, 5 boards and 3 blocks.
Dedmon played virtually the same amount as Len, (23 minutes compared to 24) and came out trying to score often. Only Trae Young had more shot attempts tonight, and Dedmon finished with 15 points on 13 shots. He added 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Len, a former 5th overall pick, is looking for new life after a rough going in Phoenix, and Dedmon is still trying to find solid footing after going undrafted. They both seem comfortable thus far in Atlanta. It’ll be interesting to see how they progress (and if Dedmon takes over in the starting 5) as the season goes on.
