Atlanta Hawks Rewind: Trae Young Outplayed Luka Doncic Despite Poor Shooting Night
Two weeks ago, Atlanta Hawks fans got to see their team in action as they took down the Dallas Mavericks 111-104. The young Atlanta Hawks got to be on the positive side of history as they captured their first win in the newly renovated State Farm Arena.
In addition to winning at home, Atlanta Hawks fans got to witness the birth of the Luka Doncic and Trae Young rivalry. As you may recall, the Atlanta Hawks were heavily leaning towards drafting Doncic.
However, things turned left when the Hawks drafted Doncic and traded his rights to the Mavericks in exchange for Young who was selected with the fifth pick. For some Hawks fans, this caused frustration.
Fans, critics and trolls struggled to understand why the Hawks would pass on a strong 6-foot-7 guard who can score in a variety of ways and is ready to contribute right away. Oh yeah, he is the youngest EuroLeague MVP ever.
On the other hand, fans, critics and trolls questioned if Young could live up to the hype or produce numbers like he did in Oklahoma. Other questions surfaced about his physical build or lack thereof, or would he be able to adapt to the game? What happens if he has an off night shooting? You get the picture.
After those two faced off, those questions were still very much present, despite Young closing the door on the Mavs in the 4th quarter. Read on to check out an in-depth rewind of the matchup against the Mavs.
