Recap: Atlanta Hawks vs Dallas Mavericks

Doncic had a strong start to the Mavs game as he finished the first quarter with 12 points opposed to Young’s 1 point. Young would end the first half shooting a miserable 1 of 9 from the field as he struggled to stay on the court in the second quarter.

Similar to Young, Doncic had a quiet second quarter in which he struggled to score. The Dallas guard would score his 14th point in the third quarter. Young would go on to convert his second bucket in the third quarter.

Entering the fourth quarter, Young continued to struggle until he hit three free throws after being fouled from behind the arc. After that “Ice Trae” came into effect after he started to push the tempo.

One of the defining moments in the game was when the Hawks were down one with 3:34 left to play and Young put Dennis Smith Jr. in the spin cycle and blew by him in order to convert a tough layup while absorbing contact. Prior to that play, the Oklahoma product hit a floater down the lane.

Despite Doncic finishing the game with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists, Young won the matchup between the two for a few reasons.
