Poor Start, Better Finish

With 10:26 left in the third quarter the Atlanta Hawks franchise guard would sink a three and begin to show signs of life. Entering the fourth the 6-foot-2 guard would continue to attack the basket. He would go on to hit a floater. A few plays later he hit a Kyrie Irving-like layup to put the Hawks up one with 3:34 left to play.

Young won the matchup over Doncic because of his ability to help close the game. All it took was for him to hit three free throws earlier in the game in order for him to establish a pulse. Despite a horrible start to the game, he found a way to bring his team over the hump.

Yes, Doncic finished the game with a better stat line but he didn’t bring his team together to make a final run to close out the game. “Ice Trae” lived up to his named coined by Quavo himself. With the game on the line “Ice Trae” proved that he can be trusted in the final minutes of a game.

As the game wound down Young was able to push through a horrible shooting slump. Not to mention he got his teammates involved down the stretch with a few pinpoint passes. Again, Doncic had a solid game but his last bucket came after the game was all but clinched.

Of course, this is only the beginning and the two will meet up many more times over the course of their career but for now, it’s (1-0) “Ice Trae”. The two will face each other again December 12th in Dallas.
