Rookie Starters Report

Taurean Prince missed tonight’s game with an ankle injury. That is significant because not only is Prince one of the Atlanta Hawks most important scorers, it marks his first game missed since February 10th, 2017.

This marks the end of 119 consecutive games that Prince appeared in for the Hawks. Get well soon TP!

In his place we got rookie Kevin Huerter making his first professional start. Huerter’s appearance in the starting 5 completed the trifecta of starting first rounders.

Tonight’s rookie report:

Omari had just 2 points on 1-7 shooting, adding a couple of offensive boards.

Kevin Huerter didn’t fare much better, scoring 7, but did play some nice D, blocking a shot as well as stealing the ball three times.

We’ll get to Trae Young’s night in the next slide, but his rough shooting night was redeemed by his floor game and 10 nice assists.

Taurean Prince is just day-to-day for now, and John Collins’ long-awaited return is just around the corner, so don’t expect these young bodies in the starting 5 consistently moving forward.

In the meantime, and at the very least, it’s good for these rooks to get some solid experience and playing time.
