Atlanta Hawks: Rapid Reaction to 112-107 Loss to Knicks
Rookie Report
For Trae Young, who is still off to a terrific start to his rookie season, his growing ability to finish tough shots at the rim gets more impressive by the game:
He wasn’t the only young gun to play well.
Omari Spellman had the best game of his career to date, and is looking like a bona-fide steal after being picked 30th overall this past June.
He finished with a career-high 18 points, draining 3 threes on 5 attempts and recording 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.
More than anything, he was a juiced-up energizer bunny all night–scratching out tough boards and using his length to bother the Knicks on defense.
That coast-to-coast hustle was best personified in a beautiful sequence that started with a Spellman block and ended with a Spellman slam.
The third rookie, Kevin Huerter, was a late scratch due to “personal reasons.”
