Another Good 1st Half

As they have in previous games, the Atlanta Hawks came out and played with energy and zip, making good passes and decisions on both ends of the floor. They caught the big bad Warriors in a bit of a lull, and ended up heading into the half-time break up 52-49.

A big part of that was the play of Jedi master Vince Carter, who recorded all of his 11 points in the opening half. The former slam-dunk champion has reinvented himself as a downtown threat, and hit three long bombs before the half-time whistle was blown.

Taurean Prince was also feeling himself from behind the arc in the first half, hitting three three-pointers of his own.

As a squad, the young Atlanta Hawks connected on 8 triples in 19 attempts (good for a 42% mark).

Additionally, they were moving the ball well, assisting on 12 of their 19 made field goals.

Sequences like this are not only hard to defend, they make for beautiful basketball.

Kevin vs. Kevin

As mentioned earlier, it was a tough night for all the Hawks rookies, and that includes the dude from Maryland, Kevin Huerter.

In this highly anticipated matchup of the Kevin’s, Huerter was always going to be at somewhat of a disadvantage–kind of unfair being compared to a former NBA MVP,  9x All-Star, and 4x scoring champion.

Durant finished with 29 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Warriors offensively, while Huerter ended with 2 points and 2 rebounds.

Someday, young fella, someday.
