Air Canada is More Than Just a Mentor

When Vince Carter signed with the Atlanta Hawks this offseason, it was supposed that his main purpose would just be to advise the peach-fuzz laden guards who would be the future of the franchise.

However, along with assuming the “old guy in the locker room” mantle, the sage Carter is showing everyone that he can still play some ball as well on the side.

The former Tar Heel tallied all of his 11 points in the first half, which tied his season-high for points in a game, and added 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

I’ll tell ya, “Grandpa” might throw a better spiral than Matt Ryan.

Prince and Bembry Superb

Before the season, Taurean Prince was picked by a lot of national basketball writers to be a breakout candidate primed for a big season. After the first week and a half, it looked like that would be the case. He was averaging 21.8 points over the opening four games, and appeared to be well on his way to making the leap.

However, a shooting slump marred by indecisive play and avoidable turnovers turned the following weeks into a disappointment.

Yet, if the game against Golden State is any indication, it looks like Prince is back on an upward trajectory. The Baylor standout shot confidently en route to 22 points, including 4 pretty 3-pointers.

Running mate DeAndre’ Bembry also had a fantastic outing, recording 13 points (tied for season-high) and 3 steals.

Sometimes, one of those stats leads to the other.

He continues to build on his facilitating skills, and like Young, affects the game in a lot of different ways even when he’s not filling up the basket. The handle looks good, and he showed a lot of activity on the defensive end as one of the only Hawks able to pester KD.
