Buckle up for some rapid reactions to a 45-point (that’s right 4-5) Atlanta Hawks loss to the Denver Nuggets. Blame the altitude.
From start to finish this was an absolutely atrocious basketball game played by the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks trailed 13-0 to start the game and looked completely lost on both sides of the ball as they fell 138-93 to the Denver Nuggets in a game that was never competitive.
Defensively the Hawks had no answer at all for the Nuggets, giving up over 100 points in the first three quarters alone. They were dominated in every facet of the game for the entire night. This game was absolutely miserable to watch.
It will be really hard to find any positives from this game. Kevin Huerter, Kent Bazemore, and Jeremy Lin all had decent games and it was a good feeling as a Hawk fan to see Paul Millsap on the floor again (albeit for the other team), but that’s about it.
I personally am as big of a Trae Young fan as there is, but he just hasn’t had it the past two games. He is still a rookie and he is still going to have his struggles just like he has had all of his success so far in his young career. There is no reason to panic about the young point guard of the future. Fans are just going to have to be patient.
Luckily John Collins looks to be getting closer and closer to a highly anticipated return that should give the Atlanta Hawks a boost and make them more exciting to watch at least. With no Collins and no Taurean Prince on the court you can’t expect much from this young team down two of their most important and best overall players.
Hopefully this poor performance is mainly because the Hawks are as impressed with the Duke freshman, just as the rest of the world is.
It looks like we may be in the race for Zion Williamson, which should be what fans are hoping for at this point.
With tonight being as ugly as it was there is nowhere to go but up from here!! Go Hawks.
