Speaking of Collins, it was another positive step towards working the second-year big guy back from injury. Building on a 12 points in 12 minutes performance against the Pacers, he came out and recorded 18 points in 20 minutes. He hit two triples, dished out 6 assists, and showcased the motor that has made him such a joy to watch during his short time in the league.

Another post presence fighting his way back into the rotation, Dedmon had a solid night as well, posting 13 points and 12 boards for the double-double.

Of course, this was all in a loss–and a painful one at that.

What made it so painful? The fact that it started out so promisingly.

The Atlanta Hawks as a team shot the lights out in the opening period, making 14 of the first 22 field goal attempts.

Rookie Kevin Huerter, who hits a silky triple in the video below, played a great opening period and ending up leading the Atlanta Hawks in plus/minus on the night, with a +9 mark.

After a tremendous offensive-fireworks-filled first half that saw the home team head to the locker room up 64-61, the Hawks expanded their lead to 15 at one point in the third quarter.
