Another Career Night for Trae Young

While he did not have his most efficient night scoring the basketball, rookie Trae Young had a phenomenal night passing the ball. Young finished with a career-high and NBA season-high of 17 assists, and if his teammates had finished a few more plays, he could’ve easily had a shot at 20 dimes.

Ice Trae did log 25 points, but it took him 22 shooting possessions to get there, only shooting 36.4 percent from the field on the way to that 25-spot. He did hit 8 of 9 free throws, but the Clips swallowed him up at the rim with the team’s immense big men: Marcin Gortat, Montrezl Harrell and Boban.

Young also only went 1 of 5 from distance, and while his dribble moves continue to sizzle out on the perimeter, he can never seem to complete the highlight by draining the deep shot. Perhaps that will come with time and a little more seasoning, but right now Trae’s outside shot is far from wet.

Still though, the passing was truly amazing, and it was nice to see John Collins and Dewayne Dedmon out there finishing plays with ease to help Young inflate his passing stats.
