Ice Trae Back on Track

After a string of ugly 0 of 5 performances from long range for the Atlanta Hawks #5 overall pick Trae Young, Ice Trae returned to form on this night, as he was swishing triples from all over the court. His most impressive make of the night had to be this crazy pull-up with his heels on the logo:

Though he got a bit thirsty at times searching for his shot from distance, he did manage to hit 4 of his 10 tries from long distance on the way to 18 points. He also added 5 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 block in 29 minutes for the Atlanta Hawks.

It was good to see Young’s shot falling from long range, as even the threat of him pulling up from long range completely warps the spacing the Atlanta Hawks can produce on offense. Having him actually hit some of these crazy shots is just gravy. While his passing numbers were down slightly, he did feed John Collins for this excellent alley-oop slam:

As the tweet says, that’s pure poetry at its finest if you’re an Atlanta Hawks fan.
