A quick look at some takeaways to the Atlanta Hawks loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.

The Atlanta Hawks were defeated handily by the OKC Thunder on Friday night by a final margin of 124 to 109. The game was actually well in hand for the Thunder before that, which allowed the Hawks to rack up some empty-calorie points in garbage time.

The game was close in the first quarter and the Hawks battled back in the 3rd, but in the end they were let down by poor long-distance shooting as well as some easy misses at the charity stripe.

The Thunder’s defense was just as good as advertised, and they swarmed all over the Hawks – in particular Oklahoma native Trae Young, who had a tough game from an efficiency and finishing standpoint, despite notching a near double-double.

In typical fashion, the Thunder backcourt triumvirate of Russell Westbrook, Alex Abrines and new Thunder member and former Hawk Dennis Schröder torched the Hawks to the tune of 62 combined points. Throw in Paul George’s 20 points and you have 75 percent of the Thunder’s offense.

It was a tough game for the Hawks on the road, who fall to 5-18 on the season. Bring on Zion Williamson (it’s never too early for mock drafts)!

Read on to explore some takeaways from this tilt.
