Sixth Man of the Year: Jeremy Lin

Lastly, Jeremy Lin has put to bed any lingering concerns about him being “washed” or about his injury being an issue going forward into the veteran point guard’s career.

Since being fully integrated into the Atlanta Hawks rotation, Jeremy Lin has been completely on fire for the Hawks and has dropped mammoth performances left and right throughout the month of November, as evidenced by these highlights:

Lin is completely back, and the most amazing part is, he is doing all this damage exclusively from the bench for the Hawks, making him a slam-dunk choice for the team’s Sixth Man of the Year award at the quarter-season mark.

A Sixth Man of the Year is supposed to come off the bench and get buckets, which is exactly what Lin is achieving with extreme efficiency. Lin is flirting with an amazing 50/40/90 slash line by shooting 50.6 percent from the field, 41.9 percent from beyond the three-point line and 84.4 percent from the line.

Lin’s Player Efficiency Rating of 17.5 is second only to Miles Plumlee, who has played far fewer minutes, and Lin actually leads the team in win shares at 0.9. Amazing stuff from a nine-year-veteran that many people thought the Hawks were crazy to trade for.

Beyond that, Lin’s real plus/minus of 0.14 among is 29th among all point guards and his offensive real plus/minus of 1.37 is 19th among all point guards.

Lastly, Lin is not only scoring efficiently, but his passing numbers are quite gaudy as well. Lin is second only to Trae Young in all the major passing categories for the Atlanta Hawks — assists per game (3.1), total assists (66) and assist percentage (26.9).

It’s been an amazing year for Jeremy Lin, and we hope it continues for the Hawks – or for another team if Lin is traded to a contender or a team that desperately needs a point guard.
