Turnover Trouble

The Warriors were invited to a turnover party tonight in State Farm Arena, and they delivered just as much as Atlanta.

Going into the game, Atlanta led the league in turnovers with 18.2 a game, nearly 2 more than the next closest team (Dallas and Phoenix with 16.5). Five different Hawks (Young, Prince, Collins Lin, Bazemore) average at least two turnovers a game.

It’s been a problem for the young team all season, and tonight was no exception. They jumped out of the gate with 9 turnovers before the Warriors could record 1, and finished the game with 18.

Even after starting the game well, the Warriors were able to catch up, and ended up with 20. Granted, the Golden State starters didn’t play much in the 4th.

Trae Young lead the way with 7 TOs and only supplemented it with 3 assists.

With how young the Hawks’ roster is, there is at least an explanation for the turnover difficulties, and they can right the ship in the future. If they are looking to make some early resolutions for 2019, cutting down on the turnovers should be at the top of the list.
