Trae’s Deep Shot Still Missing

After a hot start, Trae’s range has disappeared in the last couple of weeks.

He failed to make a three for the second straight game tonight, which marks 10 games on the season without a triple for the rookie. For comparison, Young made at least 1 in every game except one last season at Oklahoma.

Tonight’s 0-5 effort dropped his percentage on the season to 23%, and is dead last in 3P% among players with at least 75 attempts on the year.

Good thing Young has made up for his long-distance drought with his inside scoring ability and assists, the latter among the league leaders thus far.

Luckily, he wont be 21 until the start of next season and has ample room to improve. Even with his struggles, he still has the green light from anywhere on the court, a rarity even for veteran sharpshooters:

Even in college he was a quantity over quality deep scorer, shooting 36% on his 10.3 attempts as a Sooner, and hopefully he’s just working out the kinks for now.

November’s Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month has the rest of the season to figure it out, and can. Something to watch as the season goes on.
