Trade Benefits for the Wizards

The Wizkids’ would benefit from trading Porter Jr. and Morris to the Atlanta Hawks for a few reasons. Although, the Wizards matched the Brooklyn Nets offer sheet to hold on to Porter Jr. they didn’t do it because of their full belief in him.

Washington matched the offer because of the lack of small forwards on the market. Another reason was because of their unfamiliarity in Oubre Jr. long term (at the time). If the Wizards can move Porter Jr. it would clear a lot of money off of their books.

On the other side of the table, Oubre Jr. is starting to grow into his own as a wing player in the league. KO this year has arguably been one of the more consistent players on the Wizards. Shipping Porter Jr. to Atlanta will help the Wizkids clear space and re-sign a player who can do the same thing for less.

Also, the team would receive Lin who may be better suited to back up Wall. Over the years we have seen that Lin is most aggressive when coming off the bench or when the expectations around him are lowered.

Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks would benefit from having a veteran like Bazemore on his team. As mentioned earlier, Baze is a veteran who wants to win at all cost.

KB would be an addition to the Wizards as a backup guard or a possible starter who is put in a small-ball lineup.

The Wizards would benefit from this trade on the financial and basketball side.
