John Collins Showcase Game

After a career-high 24 points against the defending champion Golden State Warriors, John Collins was hungry for more against the Wizards. He immediately came out in the first quarter and put his stamp all over the first few minutes of this game – compiling ridiculous totals of 9 points and 5 rebounds in the first 6:20 of this game — fitting numbers for the Atlanta Hawks MVP at the quarter-season mark.

Collins showed his complete package in this game; he was taking guys off the dribble, driving to the rack in traffic, finishing lobs, bullying smaller players with his heft and strength for offensive boards, hitting jumpers and generally causing mayhem for the opposing defense when he was out there.

Though he did not flash the passing chops we have seen from John in recent games, this was still a terrific all-around performance from the second-year player. Just so we have it, his final stat line featured a new career-high of 26 points on 12 of 17 shooting (2 of 4 from three) with 14 rebounds in 31 minutes.
