Offense — The Bad

  • Points per game: 107.9 (23rd)

The fact that we’re playing with the fastest pace in the league but averaging the 23rd most points is… disconcerting.

  • Field goal percentage: 44.2 (26th)
  • Offensive rating (essentially measures efficiency of expected points per possession): 101.1 (29th)
  • Assist-to-Turnover Ratio: 1.35 (29th)

Trae’s made highlight-caliber passes all season, but has had problems with turnovers as well. Individually, his AST/TO number is 1.78. Fellow rookie Kevin Huerter leads the team at 2.12. Who’s really struggling here that shouldn’t be? Taurean Prince is the main culprit, as he has the second-lowest number on the team at 0.89.

  • Turnover percentage: 17.1 (30th)

First and second-year players turn the ball over a lot, that’s true. But there are a lot of young teams in the league, and the Atlanta Hawks are out-pacing all of them by ending over 17 percent of their possessions in a turnover. Yikes.

Let’s examine where they shape up on the other end of the floor.
