The Atlanta Hawks have two players that have received a ton of love from the fans in All-Star voting so far.

Though the Atlanta Hawks are clearly in a rebuild this season, that hasn’t stopped NBA fans from voting for the two most famous players on the roster: Vince Carter and Jeremy Lin.

Both Carter and Lin joined the team this offseason and have performed their roles serviceably, oftentimes outperforming that “serviceable” claim with strong showings that lead to rare Hawks victories.

After rupturing his patellar tendon last season, consummate professional Jeremy Lin is having an excellent bounce-back season in which he is 5th on the Hawks in scoring at 10.6 PPG and 3rd in Player Efficiency Rating at 17.6.

Fans have responded to Lin’s brilliant campaign by giving him the 8th-most votes among guards in the Eastern Conference with 62,573 at most recent count.

Another big name the Atlanta Hawks added this offseason was NBA legend Vince Carter, who was signed to a minimum deal in order to serve as a mentor to the young players on the team such as Trae Young, Kevin Huerter and John Collins.

Far from being a pine-riding benchwarmer, Carter is in the top 10 in minutes on the Hawks, just behind Lin, and he even led the Atlanta Hawks in scoring with 21 in a game they won recently.

Like Lin, the fans have been enjoying what might be Vince’s final season in the NBA at age 42, as he has received the 7th-most votes among frontcourt players in the NBA ahead of Andre Drummond, Gordon Hayward and former Hawk great Al Horford.

Though it’s unlikely that Lin or Carter will make the All-Star team this season, it’s good to see that these delightful Hawks vets still have plenty of cachet around the league among players and fans. Now, let’s try and get John Collins to the All-Star game!
