Turnovers Hurt The Hawks Again

The Atlanta Hawks committed 19 turnovers in tonight’s contest against the Nets. At the end of the first quarter, Atlanta only committed three turnovers.

Tuesday, the Hawks lost to the Toronto Raptors (101-104), who are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta turned the ball over 26 times against the Raptors.

Ultimately, the Hawks need to take care of the ball in order to close out games effectively. This is a young team that has to learn how to take care of the ball.

Young turned the ball over six times, which cannot happen. However, it was a positive sighting to see Pierce continue to pull him to the side and coach him. Young’s current usage percentage is 26 and will probably remain around that average. Considering the fact that he will have the ball in his hands he has to make better decisions.

Lin committed four out of the 19 turnovers for the Hawks tonight. Right now, both Lin and Young turn the ball over too much at the point guard position.

Atlanta can compete with any team in the league when they take care of the ball. Sadly, turnovers are something that this team struggles to avoid.

Brooklyn mounted a comeback because of the nine turnovers committed in the second quarter and Atlanta’s poor shooting. Despite tonight’s loss, the Hawks did play a back-to-back which could have factored into tonight’s performance.
