Grit and grind Trae

In what has to be the most positive of takeaways for Atlanta Hawks fans, Trae Young continues to shake off his rough start.

He led the Hawks in scoring tonight, with 26 points, and added another double-double to his season tally, but not in the way you would expect. Young finished with a surprising 10 rebounds to go along with his 4 assists. Those boards easily beat out his previous career high of 7 boards. Also impressive about Young’s 10 rebounds? 4 of them were offensive boards, showing off the hustle and speed of “Ice Trae”.

Sunday marked his fifth-straight game with at least 17 points, and he’s made at least one triple in 11 consecutive, while still improving his inside game. He’s definitely heating up.

Young also seems to be getting off the leash a bit more, and posted 33 minutes yesterday, an amount he’s only topped 4 times this season. With Jeremy Lin —the only other point guard on the active roster—being a leading candidate to be traded at the deadline, that number should only go up.

Like most rookie point guards, he has had difficultly finding his way in the league early on, but he has steadily improved since around the middle of December, which is earlier than most could of expected.
