Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers are Ideal Trading Partners
By Chris Guest
One reason why the Hawks should make a trade with the 76ers is because Philly has an absolutely massive stash of future draft picks thanks to the cultish hoarding of picks accrued by messianic figure Sam Hinkie among Process-trusters.
Looking ahead regarding draft picks, according to RealGM, the 76ers have all of their first round picks beyond this year as well as Miami’s 2021 unprotected pick and who knows how valuable that will be in 2 years’ time.

Beyond that, the 76ers have a rash of second rounders that could be included as sweeteners in any deal.
So what about the fit? The 76ers are in dire need of defensive depth on the wing, a backup big man when Joel Embiid sits as well as perimeter shot creation and/or a backup point guard.
Luckily for the 76ers, the Atlanta Hawks have players that match all of those needs, so let’s hope the team sells high on deals that involve these players – as all of them have been playing well this season.
The structure of most of these deals will be the Hawks taking on less-important players for the 76ers (via dead money) and sending back some of the team’s better veterans in order to obtain draft picks or other young players that are not seeing many minutes for the 76ers.
Quick note: While Mike Muscala would make for tantalizing salary filler coming from the 76ers to the Hawks, he cannot be reacquired after the Hawks shipped him off to Philly as part of the Dennis Schröder three-team trade.
Let’s explore the first trade.
