On the backs of tremendous play from Trae Young, John Collins, and Alex Len, the Atlanta Hawks earned a win over the Clippers in L.A.
On a night when everything seemed to be going right for the Atlanta Hawks, they still had to fend off a Los Angeles Clippers run in the final few minutes to pull out a narrow 123-118 win.
The Hawks led by as much as 16 at one point, but Tobias Harris and Montrezl Harrell willed their team back into it, providing some titillating final-quarter tension.
This is a huge win for the young Atlanta Hawks on the road over a playoff-caliber squad. The Clippers gave them everything they had, and the Hawks maintained poise and looked like a complete dynamo on the offensive end.
Of course, if one looks at the big picture, losses might be arguably better than wins.
The playoffs aren’t really conceivable (even after going 10-10 in their last 20 games, the Hawks are still 8 games back of the 8th place Hornets), and there’s now several teams with worse records. The lottery is calling.
But last night was as good of a win as the Hawks have had all season. For those who stayed up until past 1 a.m. to watch the boys finish it out, it was well worth the time.
Let’s get to some takeaways.
