Takeaways from an Atlanta Hawks victory in Washington D.C. against the Wizards, completing a 4-3 road trip for the team.

Coming into the season the Wizards had high playoff expectations, and the Atlanta Hawks had, well, none. Now, just a week before the All-star break, the division rivals are separated by just 5 in the standings.

Atlanta was looking to cut that down to 4 with a win in the nation’s capital, and they did just that, rattling the Wizards 137-129.

The Wizards had a nice first two minutes of the game, but then went ice cold for about a quarter and a half, allowing the Hawks to get out to a 19-point lead early on.

They slowly fought back, but the clock ran out before they could fully clinch the comeback. Despite giving up 40 to Washington in the 4th, the Hawks hung tough, and Taurean Prince hit a couple clutch threes to seal it.

It was great night of basketball and one that has to feel good for the young Hawks to pull out. Lloyd Pierce and friends improve to 18-35 on the season, winning back-to-back games for just the 5th time all season.

Here are 3 takeaways we can gather from the exciting game Monday night.
