15. Dan Roundfield, Power Forward/Center, 1979-84
From 1979-84, forward Dan Roundfield was one of the best defenders in Atlanta Hawks history. He was also one of their best scorers in franchise history. Along with winning five All-Defensive NBA awards as a member of the Hawks, Roundfield was also quite the scorer.
Atlanta was Roundfield’s most productive stop during his 12-year career in the NBA. He made three All-Star appearances with Atlanta in consecutive seasons from 1979-82.
As a Hawk, he averaged 17.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 blocks per contest from 1979-84. He produced 7,644 points, 4,658 rebounds, 1,047 assists and 716 blocks during his stint with Atlanta.
He was the anchor in the interior for some of the best Atlanta Hawks teams. During his first season (1979-80) with the team, he put up 16.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest as a walking double-double for the squad. His career-high 38 points came in a 113-107 victory over the San Diego Clippers came during his first season with the team.
During that season, Atlanta posted a record of 50-32, though they lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals that year. Roundfield ranks 15th all-time in franchise history in total points and 10th in total rebounds.
