14. Mookie Blaylock, Point Guard, 1993-99

Mookie Blaylock was one of the best point guards to don an Atlanta Hawks uniform and it was due to his multi-faceted skill set. He was one of the grittiest defenders in the league as well as a scorer and assist-man. If he focused on scoring more, he’d probably own more franchise records.

Blaylock ranks 14th in total points (7,743) after averaging 14.9 points per contest through seven seasons with the Hawks. The scrappy point guard racked up seven triple-doubles and 121 double-doubles as a consistent two-way player for his team.

He holds the record for most assists in a game with 23 on March 6, 1993, against the Utah Jazz. He also proved to be a solid 3-point shooter, putting up a franchise-best 231 3-point makes during the 1995-96 season. Blaylock holds the career for most 3-pointers made in franchise history with 1,050 as well.

During the 1993-94 season, he made the only All-Star appearance of his career with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 13.8 points, 9.7 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game that year. Those weren’t his career seasons, either.

The following year, he averaged 17.2 points per game as the team’s point guard. In 1996-97, the Hawks went 46-36 and he produced a career-best 17.4 per game.

Blaylock carried his solid play into the postseason, where he put up 16.4 points per contest through 10 appearances.

Blaylock was another one of those two-way players that proved to be a solid contributor with the Hawks franchise. He was more than just a scorer though, as he also ranks second all-time in assists in team history.
